Recurring testing of charging stations with ZERA E-Mobility testing equipment case
The recurring inspection of charging stations is an essential aspect of electromobility. Only through regular inspections can user safety be ensured. This involves not only checking the charging function, but also the condition of the charging station itself. The main focus should be on checking functionality, stability, and protection against the elements.
The focus is on precise measurement of current and voltage (AC & DC). Professional testing by qualified specialists allows any defects to be identified and remedied early on. This means users can rely on a functional and safe charging infrastructure at all times.
Advantages of a ZERA EMOB test case:
- There is no comparable device on the European market (As of October 2023)
- High accuracy of 0.1% of power
- ZERA is the first manufacturer on the European market to offer a combined test device for AC and DC charging stations
- Our devices have the highest possible safety features, from mechanical locking to high-current monitoring (see list for details)
- Combination of test case and “separate” test device makes the test solutions for e-mobility modular and individual
- Automatic control of the test case via WLAN
- Guided test procedure via a tablet = step-by-step instructions
- Independent of the power supply from its own battery
- The connected test counter is insensitive to interference frequencies up to 150 kHz (Important in the vicinity of charging stations)
Test case & test device in one device
The test device is the standalone test meter from the s2 series (MT310s2 or MT320s2), which can be operated either independently of the EMOB test case or used with any test case from the EMOB series. The test case forms the interface between the charging station and the test meter and ensures safe handling.
Safety features – all suitcases have maximum safety features:
Checking the correct contact of the connected cables
- Detection of the charging cable type
- Electromechanical locking of the connected connections
All cases for DC currents (EMOB200-00, -10, EMOB500):
- Monitoring of DC high-current contacts for overcurrent
EMOB80, EMOB200-00 and -10 and EMOB500:
- Temperature monitoring of the AC contacts and the DC high-current contacts
As soon as the predefined temperature is reached, the charging process is automatically shut down. It can only be restarted after the device has cooled down sufficiently.
Recurring testing of charging stations
The recurring inspection of charging stations is an essential aspect of electromobility. Only through regular inspections can safe use and billing of the correct amount of energy be ensured. The focus of our charging station inspections is the precise measurement of current and voltage. Our devices detect correct contact of the charging cables, overcurrent, and have temperature monitoring of the high-current contacts. With professional inspection by qualified specialists, any defects can be identified and remedied at an early stage. This way, users can rely on a functional, safe, and precise charging infrastructure at all times.
AC and DC testing of charging stations
Regular testing of AC and DC charging stations is crucial to ensuring the safety of electric vehicle charging. These tests can identify potential defects. Therefore, operators or manufacturers of charging stations should not neglect or ignore these tests. Adhering to the recommended or prescribed testing intervals is an important measure to minimize the risk of incorrect billing and thus ensure a reliable energy supply for electric vehicles. For such testing, you must be able to rely on your devices, test kits, and systems.

Trust in our experience and use our test kits for periodic testing of charging stations.
Our test cases and their features
As an operator or repairer of charging stations, or as a manufacturer of electric vehicles with their own charging stations, recurring inspections are essential. Our test kits for charging stations include:
- EMOB32
- EMOB80
- EMOB200
Test case EMOB32
Our EMOB32 test case is suitable for testing AC charging stations with current measurements up to 32 A (AC) and voltage measurements up to 300 V (AC). The EMOB32 is equipped with a Type 2 charging plug. The Type 2 plug is widely used throughout Europe. Depending on the test meter used, it offers an accuracy of 0.1 (MT310s2) or 0.05 (MT320s2). For on-site measurements, no mains power is required because the integrated test meter runs on battery power.
The main functions include direct connection to charging stations for electric vehicles up to a current measurement of max. 32 A (AC) and energy measurement during the charging process.
The special features of the test case are:
- Short setup times
- Charging cable detection
- Security check
- Electromechanical locking of the connected cables
- Charging cable with additional measuring leads (Sense)
- Extensive accessories
- Guided test procedure via WinSAM and tablet
- Independent of the mains supply through battery operation of the connected test meter (MT3x0s2)
Test case EMOB80
Our EMOB80 test case is suitable for testing AC charging stations, with current measurements up to 80 A (AC) and voltage measurements up to 300 V (AC). This device is equipped with a Type 1 charging plug. This plug type is particularly common in the USA. Depending on the test meter used, it offers an accuracy of 0.1 (MT310s2) or 0.05 (MT320s2). Like the EMOB32, the EMOB80 is designed for on-site measurements at electric vehicle charging stations without mains power. The main difference lies in the current measurement up to a maximum of 80 A (AC) and the special temperature monitoring of the integrated high-current contacts.
Test case EMOB200
The EMOB200 test case is suitable for AC and DC charging stations, with current measurements up to 200 A (DC) and 32 A (AC) and voltage measurements of 1000 V (DC) and 300 V (AC). This device uses a Type 2 or CCS 2 connector. The Type 2 connector is commonly used on AC charging stations throughout Europe, while the CCS 2 connector is used on rapid charging stations. Here, too, you don't need a mains power supply for on-site measurements, as the integrated test meter runs on battery power.
The main functions differ from the previously described devices in the combined measurement of AC and DC currents up to 200 A (DC) and 32 A (AC). This test case also features overcurrent detection, temperature monitoring of the high-current contacts, and is also suitable for fast-charging stations.
Recurring testing of charging stations: Electricians
The recurring inspection of charging stations is subject to legal regulations in some countries and must be performed at regular intervals. As an operator, you must be able to rely on your testing equipment during the inspection process to ensure accurate and, above all, compliant testing. The accuracy class of our test kits, as well as their key functions and special features, provide you with all the features you need for accurate recurring testing of charging stations.
